Skippy Peanut Butter Recalled

OMAHA, Neb. -- Some 16.3-ounce plastic jars of Skippy Reduced Fat Creamy Peanut Butter Spread and Skippy Reduced Fat Super Chunk Peanut Butter Spread have been recalled. The jars of peanut butter may be contaminated with salmonella. They are being sold in Nebraska, Iowa, Missouri, Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, North Dakota, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Maine, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Arkansas, Connecticut, and Delaware.

The affected jars have UPC numbers 048001006812 and 048001006782. The jars have "best if used by" dates of May 16, 2012 through May 21, 2012.

Salmonella can cause fever and abdominal problems in healthy people and serious and even fatal infections in the young, old and frail.
