How To Keep Kids Busy On A Road Trip, while sticking to a budget ?

So we have a 14 hour drive scheduled before us, and well i know the kids are going to get bored before too long. So how do you prevent the dreaded words of.... Mom are we there yet ? Mom, i am bored ?

Some of the things we are going to do along the way are:
Read books, i know your not suppose to read while in the car but i think this one time will be ok.
Color with Color Wonder items
Play Games
Watch Movies
And stop occasionally and let the kids get some of the energy out by playing on playgrounds at rest areas. Of course weather permitting.
All of these items were almost FREE after coupons. If you are wondering how the books were cheap, it was because i just received a Book check in the mail from Nestle. The check was good for any books for $10 and under. If you have any tips please feel free to share.

Books $3.50 x 3 = $10.50
- $10 Book Check
Paid $.50

New Budget $2544.39
Year To Date Coupon Savings $1927.88
Mail In Rebate Savings $24.99

There are lots of free printable activity sheets available online too. I lucked out and found a gameboy with 5 games for only $10 at a garage sale for our road trip next week.
Have a great vacation!

Crayons are banned from the car. It is a rental and after son colored on my car i am not taking chances. My daughter has a DS but the charger is broke and so is mommy's pocket book, lol. Where abouts are you headed for your trip ? Have a great time!

I only say that because they use to say it is bad for the eyes. I don't know if it is true or not but driving 37 1/2 hours around whole trip, you bet i am going to find things for my kids to do.
